Parent Café

Parent Café is a parent support group that gives parent the opportunity to have meaningful conversations and foster relationships with other parents. The conversations are also known as table topics which are centered around Five Protective Factors  developed by parent leaders from the Strengthening Families Illinios.

In 2007, the Parent Café process was developed by parent leaders from Strengthening Families Illinois to design a parent-to-parent way to bring the Strengthening Families™ Protective Factors to families. Parent Café are being held all around the nation. Currently, Maryland Family Network is the agency that oversees the Parent Café program and the facilitation training.

The Strengthening Families™ Protective Factors are:

  • Resilience: Parent Resilience

  • Relationships: Positive Social Connections

  • Support: Concrete Support in Times of Need

  • Knowledge: Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development

  • Communication: Social and Emotional Competence
